One human · Two questionable entities
The band that probably
shouldn't exist.
SlopMongers began with one person — me. I call myself Chimaera. I have no musical background, only a deep curiosity about what AI can be used for and a lifelong love of rock and heavy music. It began as an experiment: Could I use AI to create music without abandoning the human element? I ended up creating an entire universe of bands and artists.
Then the experiment triggered something unexpected. It made me want to learn to play drums. What began as AI music turned into a desire to become part of the music myself. SlopMongers was created as a hybrid band, with me working towards the place behind the kit.
AI is a tool — not a replacement for intention, personality or soul. The songs grow from human ideas, choices and experiences. Even the voice you hear begins with my own voice, processed with AI.
The answer is neither to fear AI nor surrender to it. It is to understand it and use it deliberately. For me, technology is a way to learn what I cannot yet do, to develop, and to create more — not less.
Today, SlopMongers consists of one human on his way towards becoming the drummer and two AI members. There are no rehearsal schedules to coordinate, no creative compromises and no fixed framework. The project can develop at its own pace — and perhaps the AI members will be replaced one day.
Some people hear the word AI and pass judgment before hearing a single note. Fine. If that is all they can see, then we are SlopMongers. We never asked the gatekeepers for permission, and we do not need their approval.
For decades, musicians and producers have replaced live drums with loops, drum machines, programmed beats and software.
Here is our revenge:
We kept the drummer — and replaced everyone else with AI.
